Overview
The current state of electronic health records is just short of a dumpster fire. The facts speak for themselves. After four decades and six generations of electronic medical records, paper records still out perform the operation of electronic ones in quality, quantity and content. As noted in a recent exhaustive joint investigation by Forbes and Kaiser Health:
The U.S. government claimed that turning medical charts into
electronic records would make healthcare better, safer, and cheaper.
Ten years and $36 billion later, the system is an unholy mess!
As healthcare workers, we have heard for over a decade how AI promises to rescue electronic health records. This is a tall task for a technology struggling with recognizing the relationship between objects. Not to mention, AI’s known weakness in understanding the relationship between words and their underlying meanings.
AI has been described as auto complete on steroids, because it is limited by the infrastructure, and information systems its algorithms are running on. Case in point, IBM Watson promised lightning in a bottle for healthcare digital recordkeeping, only to predictably deliver a mere flash in the pan. AI has never been shown to fix a system (like EHR) that doesn’t understand human interactions (as those in healthcare delivery mechanisms).
We as healthcare workers don’t need more puffed up claims about AI rescuing the current state of digital healthcare recordkeeping. That’s not to say that the Meteor team does not see the future promise of AI or the current real world applications of AI like data analytics or data mining for research, epidemiology or disease control.
For now we as physicians, nurses, and allied medical workers seek a practical solution like Meteor’s Health Information Management System (HIMS). A system featuring proven infrastructure that allows us to do our work, our way -- by connecting all of our databases and devices on demand, in real time, and in sync with each of our individual workflow tasks and processes.
We are seeking qualified investors. If you are interested
in the Meteor solution, please contact us.
